When turning the key, the engine sounds like it is about to start, but never quite does. Stepping on the gas doesn't help.

It was last driven just two days ago with no problems. There is gas, oil, and battery power. It has been serviced regularly througout it's 'life'.

Chance is that your car battery is weakened. Get someone to slave start your car engine. Get the battery replaced if it is already 3 years old!
