Question:
I recently put a message on this board regarding my car. I was having a few problems with it and recently had a new hose fitted.
after that the car had all sorts of worse problems and bright green liquid was coming through the coolant.
i went to the garage today and he said that he previous garage who fitted the hose had fitted the wrong one which had caused more problems.

If they won't refund you....stand outside the garage with a placard telling passing members of the public what they did....they'll soon pay you back!

What are steering wheels made out of??

It sounds to me as though the hose problem is not the real issue....in reality....any old hose would do as long as the dimensions were the same. The green colour is the coolant and depending on where it is coming from, you need to decide what to do.

What do you do....?

INFO ADDED: I'm not 100% sure but I think you have the K series engine fitted in this car. The coolant system has a metal pipe running along the back of the engine and at the top it is fitted with a 'bleed screw/nut'. This is vital when refilling the cooling system after draining as it allows you to top up the engine to allow air out! It sounds as though the wrong pipe was fitted and air remained in the system causing an air blockage. This air blockage can stop the coolant running around the engine and may have caused the problem. Second thing to consider is the thermostat may have 'jammed' shut....this is not uncommon on any car. If this is the case this also will stop the fluid circulating!

The coolant system on the K Series engine is important as it also runs thru the injector manifold (which injects fuel into engine).

Can anyone tell me what rpm range to shift a 13 speed? I can up shift ok, but I can't downshift!?

Hope this helps, but in any case you need to get the 'wrong' pipe off and go back to the garage that did the original work and slap the mechanic over the head with it....you could have blown your engine up!

You should have gone back to the mechanic who first did the job.

But since you are already having it repaired, get the wrong part and take it back to the mechanic who installed it along with both sets of receipts and ask him to eat the cost of both the part and the labor.

Can we mix same engine oil grades but from different brands, ie(castrol and pennzoil10W-30)?

But negociate for just the cost of the part. If he's a good mechanic, he'll refund most if not all of your money. If he does, in the future, let him change your oil as a good faith jesture.

A Rover isn't all that common of a car to own or repair. Its common for any mechanic to make that type of mistake.

how do you change brake light bulb on a Toyota Emina?

If I were u I would have gone back 2 the garage who did the job and ask them 2 put it right, but as you have had another garage do the job, so ask the garage who fixed it properly if they would give you a report on it and mentioning that wrong part was fitted.

How do i add Dex Coolant ? If added incorrectly may cause engine damage.?

Take copies of both bills and of the report, go to the initial garage and speak nicely, keep cool as u dont get anywhere fast if u run up shouting that he has messed ur car up and if he doesnt cough up u will take him to court. As u havent given the first garage a chance to fix the prob also u have gone somewhere else u have put urself in a bit of a fix. If u went back 2 first guy, chances r he would have put it right foc. Make up some good excuse 4 not comming back 2 him so it wont give him any chance 2 fight back, if u do persuade him that u had 2 use another garage, he might refund u in full or part, however if he only offers 2 refund 4 parts used then ask him as a goodwill gesture if he would do a full service on your car foc, it won't cost him much 4 parts as there wont be many and he gets them trade, ei, spark plugs £14 2u, £5 to him trade, his labour can be lost as its nothing 2 them as they charge a set fee 4 particular services now as long as no other probs arrise.. Dont lose ur rag whatever u do as it gets u nowhere, being a young lady if u r he may feel sorry 4u. Get him 2 do a free service or MOT as MOTS r now around £50 mark, dont 4get 2 mention MOT if he refuses service and get it in writing that he will do it FOC when it is next due.

Well, It sounds as if you didn't get kissed first at the first shop!
obviously they didn't know what they were doing. Now.....Go to the shop where you had the work done the second time and ask them for a detailed discription of what they had found and the steps taken to fix the origional problem as well as the other necessary repairs caused by the origional work done. Make sure to get it signed by the shop manager & mechanic. then go to the first shop and very politely ask to speak to the general manager.
Explain the situation to him and give him "A copy" of the repair facts from the second shop. If he dosen't give you a full refund tell him you are very sorry he feels that way "I guess we'll just let the B.A.R. (bureau of automotive repairs) sort this all out Then". If that dosen't stop him in his tracks file a formal complaint with the BAR as well as the Better business bureau and the chamber of commerce. Oh! and if he is an "ASE" certified shop file with them too( they might just yank his ase cert). sounds like alot of hassel but It's well worth it !
I know ........I'm a Mechanic.........you'll get ALL your money back!Pluss the costs of the extra repairs.

Just replaced rotors and pads, car still vibrates and loud moaning noise?

I reckon the first mechanic fitted a new thermostat without a 'jiggle-pin' that allows air in the coolant to vent to the expansion tank.

changing engines...?

I would then ask why a Rover would need a new thermostat, and I would imagine because it was overheating, and the reason for that overheating was nothing to do with the thermostat, but was the head gasket beginning to fail, and the wrong thermostat has finished-off what was already happening.

Someone has put a lilac powder in my petrol tank and my car has now broke down, what is it?

You say that the car is 'only 9 years old', but that is an old banger. Just scrap it, and get a different car, this time, not a Rover.

When I put it my car on drive, it goes but then it like holds and I have to put it in Park to try again until.

If this is a main dealer job go there on a Friday afternoon when people are collecting their cars and paying a fortune for the privilege of having them bodged up and create merry hell in front of them.
Even if it doesn't get your money back the embarrassment it causes the so called 'Service Manager' makes it all worthwhile.
I did!
