Could part of my fuse block be fried?

Question:
was driving my truck, went through a dip in the road, sparks and smoke came from underneath the dash, and my truck died and never would start back. I have a feeling that the sparks and smoke where from an aftermarket amp guage b/c the red and black wires leading to the back of the guage were somewhat "crispy" and the guage itself was to hot to even touch. I took the guage and wires out. Still, my truck will not crank. Some of the stuff on my fuse block is hot such as my tailight fuse, and domelight fuse. Also, my headlights, dashlights, and horn all work. There are some fuses like my brake and hazard light fuse, the guages/ instrument cluster fuse, and the heater fuse, that are not blown but i cannot get any power to them even with ignition switch in the "on" position. I thought that maybe my ignition switch was bad, but i was wrong, that did not fix the problem. I can undo the back of the fuse block from underneath the hood and i can find one terminal that is hot, thats the only one. Then I can take a wire and cross that hot terminal, the terminal that connects to the pink wire coming from the ignition switch which initially runs to the distributor, and the terminal that connects to one of the red wires coming from the ignition switch which initially leads to the starter, and I can get the truck to crank and start. Could it possible be that part of my fuse block is fried? Someone please help me out.

1995 Grand Prix hood release won't work?

You can't take the Ammeter out and not connect those two wires together. Those wires carry all the current to run your car, except the starter and charge circuits, like the ignition, lights, accessories, etc.

Petrol consumption?

The ammeter is in series with that circuit.

How to start a truck with out the keys?

When contacts become dirty, as when contacts oxidize when aging or get contaminated by a harsh environment, at some point preventing connection and at other build up heat enough to burn cables, connectors, fuse holders and fuses themselves.
If you add any power gadget to your truck, meaning that current consumption has increased so much, oxidized or contaminated contacts are the most probable origin of your problem. Else overdriven cabling.
Solution: change connectors, fuse holder and fuses. Mind that any cable, connector or holder that might have been driven to relatively high temperature, oxidize. So change the lot, as to free yourself from future problems.

check your wires carefully. I had an underdash short and had to seperate the melted wires(which also had the wires themselves contacting each other shorting stuff out.(More than once. I ripped out alot and replaced the wiring with new and problems cleared up. While doing it, the battery was disconnected.

Where do i find a serpentine diagram for a 98 park ave?

That's one of the problems with ammeters. You have to put them in series in your electrical.
Obviously, you blew the ammeter out. Sounds liike you blew something else too, but not so sure its the fuse block. That's pretty rare. I'd check your fusible links first, that's more likely the problem. Electrical problems can be hard to find. Someitmes you just gotta suck it up and take it to a professional who specializes in electrical.
