98 Jimmy battery or alternator problem?

Question:
I drained the battery in my car by accidently leaving my power inverter on. Tried jumping it, it started but the battery light wouldnt go off. I drove it around for about 5 minutes and when i parked the engine shut itself off and the key got stuck in the ignition. Had to jump it again jsut to get the key out. I figured it was the battery so I took it in and got a new one. The car starts on its own now but the battery light stil wont go out and the volt gauge in the dash isnt anywhere near 12-14 volts. Do you think its my alternator?

Looking for a door striker, can anyone help?

Yes if you've replace the battery and this is still happening you will probably need to replace the alternator. You can have this checked by an AutoZone store to find out if the altenator is bad. There is a fusible link in your positive battery cable and this also will cause this to happen, have your altenator check first. You are right it should be putting out 12 to 14 volts if it was good but if the fusible link is bad this will inhibit this charging.

you can go thew the hassle of pulling you alternator and taking it to the auto parts store and getting it checked for free, but the way I check such a problem is to jump the it one more time and when its started take the positive cable off the battery if it dies its the alternator if it stays running its something else

How much is a decent exhaust system that will be loud and make a suv sound fast?

Yes it may be the alternator, the voltage regulator is built into the alternator and you probably burned it up. The only fix is to replace the alternator.

95 integra LS, shifting but no power to the wheels?

The power inverter probably fried your alternator or voltage regulator, which is on or in the alternator. Remove the alternator and have it checked at a local parts store. Power inverters can ruin your cars electrical systems including the computer.
