Where is the thermostat on a 1999 Chevy Malibu?
if you've been told your axle is going bad by a mechanic or a mechanically knowledgeable person you really should get it fixed before you are left stranded and end up doing more damage to your car.....i had the same problem with my 1999 buick lesabre but it wasn't the axle it was the ball bearings. they fell out as i was making a turn and left me stranded on the side of the road.....luckily i was only a couple blocks away from my mom's and not the 200 miles down the highway like i was headed.your car will stop moving. it's not safe to drive it long dissidents
it's possibly a "cv joint". I'll bet that when you hear the clicking sound, you're turning to the left. go get a second opinion before getting it worked on.
Proper Battery Ampage For A 1998 Explorer?
When the axle or universal joint finally fails the axle is like to fling around wildly within the wheel hub. The car will not move forward and it is likely to damage the hub as well as other components therein. Possible the brake line. You will still have the ability to steer and be able to pull over. I wouldn't wait that long. A new one is around $100.00 at Autozone with the return of your old one and you shouldn't pay more than $200.00 to install it. If you lived in Indiana I'd fix it for you in about 2 hours. It's actually a pretty easy repair. I owned a renault alliance and they were notorious for it. I went through 3 in 40,000 miles.how much would it cost to replace shocks and struts on a 2002 mustang?
you should repair/replace it as soon as possible. you may never have an axle failure or you may break the axle and damage nearby components. its unpredictable. just have it service by someone familiar with subarus. they have locking pins securing the inner joints to the transmission. and must be driven out with an appropriate tool.replace the axle. if it clicks when you turn left the right axle is bad, if it clicks when you turn right the left axle is bad. the clicking is caused when a CV boot busts and lets out all the grease inside of it. this allows dirt and water to get inside the CV (constant velocity joint) joint and it corrodes the bearings which allow smooth operation of the joints. while you are replacing the axle that is clicking check the boots on the other on and if they are busted or torn have the axle rebooted as this will be cheaper than buyind a whole new axle. hope this helps good luck
