Question:
I have a 95 Taurus wagon. For the past week or so, when I turn the ignition key, there is a brief rushing sound of liquid, seemingly under the hood. Nothing else unusual. At first I thought it was just rain water draining off somewhere, but today a bigger problem. Drove 20 minutes on highway to do errand, stopped and went inside, came out and big green puddle of antifreeze under car. Jiffy Lube guy next door nicely refilled. Got to garage 2 blocks away, hour before closing. They pressure checked radiator; said no leaks. Something funny is still going on. JiffyLube guy had referenced engine overheating as possible cause of overflow tube spilling antifreeze. I drove back almost entirely backroads to avoid highway, w/eye on temperature gauge to make sure didn't go past 1/2way mark. Kept speed under 50mph, mostly slower. Made it home, but now dilemma of what to do Easter Sunday...risk driving as long as it's backroads, or do I have more to worry about? Always have water jug w/me.

You might try changing the radiator cap. If it is losing it's tension on the spring, it can allow it to lose pressure which will cause the water to boil and overflow.I want to get a cold air intake for my 06 mustang GT... which brand and modle are most fit ?
Same thing happened to me years ago... one of my pumps went out. I forget exactly which one it was. Water pump comes to mind though. Good Luck!!What could be wrong with my transmission?
If they pressure tested it and it checked out fine, i wouldnt worry too badly, but i would buy an extra gallon or two of antifreeze and bring a gallon or two of water along also just in case. Can someone help with an overheating problem re 96 Cadillac Eldorado?
You have a problem, and to fix it, you have to FIND it. In your case, it's going to be easy. That sound you hear at first is a pressure leak. Just have someone to look under the hood as you start the car..you'll see where the leak is and can then get it fixed. Is it easy to drill new holes in a spoiler to have it fit my car better?
When parts cool, they shrink a little. Apparently, the shrinkage is causing a little gap somewhere.I'm guessing that it's around the thermostat housing or a hose clamp.
What can cause a squeak on the drivers side front?
I would say that your water pump is leaking. This is a pretty big problem, but not too expensive. About a hundred dollars for the part. I would suggest not driving it cause your engine could over heat and crack your heads. Then the engine would be shot.A pipe in the car is probably leaking.
You may have a small crack in your radiator hose. That under pressure would cause your antifreeze to leak. Also it would make a swooshing noise when you first start up, find some duct tape tape the crack and go Easter egg hunting. I hope that's all it is. Check your oil, that may be the culprit in your engine over heat situation.
Why does my truck have a rough idle?
possibly a thermostat problem. It could have stuck closed and overheated the engine, which would cause the overflow. Then it could have opened and functioned normally on your drive home. I am no expert but it is possibly a thermostatHow do I remove tape residue from my car leather seats?
It sounds like to me that you have a bad water pump. This will cause an engine to overheat and may explain the noise. It could be and intake manifold or a crack in the engine block. All these would be very bad obviously. It could be leaking a lot of other places than just the radiator. But start out by replacing the thermostat. And also when was the last time you flushed out the system? Sounds like it it might be blocked. -EvanWhat is the best motor oil for a Toyota corolla 2000?
The rushing sound is most likely the heater core. With a low coolant level you will hear the coolant moving in the heater core because it's partly air. If you saw coolant under the car there is definetly a leak. You may wish to turn the defroster on in the heat position, if the heater core is leaking you will see steam coming from the vents and will get almost a sweet type smell. This will appear more easily if the engine is hot, as the pressure increases on the coolant. Keep the jug handy, be careful removing radiator cap, and never add coolant to a hot engine unless its running, or you'll crack the heads. Good luck. What is causing this anti-freeze leak at the bottom of my 1991 Chevy Beretta?
