Question:
I've had a 1997 Toyota Rav4 4dr 4wd for several years now. Just yesterday it started making a consistent thumping noise (not super loud, as if someone rapped their knuckles on the door) coming from the rear right. It did this only when i turned left. Today it still did it but it's audible at slow speeds going straight too now (though not nearly as loud, just noticable). Family members think it could be CV joint? Any ideas? and if you think you do, any estimates on costs? thanx

Indiana bad check?
Check the sway bar links/bushings, they may be detached or have play in the rubber. They're hard to check so pry and yank on them to see if they move at the joints. They're easy and cheap to do. Also check exhaust hangers and make sure the exhaust system is not hitting the underside of the car anywhere.
