Actual maintenance costs for auto and manual?

Question:
What's the actual maintenance/repair cost for auto and manual in the long run? Automatics w/ manual-shift worth it now for newer cars now?

Answers:

Can anyone recommend a clear bra for cars?

In the long run, if you're a careful driver - it will be more cost effective to have the manual. I have 190,000 miles on my car with the original clutch. The only expense I've had is replacing the three quarts of gear oil for the transmission. $25 for almost 200,000 miles isn't bad.

99 mercury mystique question?

If you are easy on the clutch then a manual will last longer. My car has 280,000 miles on it with the original clutch. Changed the tranny fluid one at around 175,000 miles.

Have a 94 chrylser lhs just put plugs in it still idles rough any ideas what problem could be has power though

Manual is by far more cost effective, a manual transmission is controlled by you, so your driving habits will decide how long it and the clutch lasts. It is much cheaper to replace a clutch then the whole transmission. Automatics are less reliable on many fronts. You have many more points for failure valves, converters, computers, cooling lines ... ect. Their is even more opportunity for electronic failure
with a more complicated "auto-shift" transmission. Also the maintenance costs of an automatic are higher fluid changes ... ect.
