Question:
I recently got my oil changed, and my mechanic said to keep an eye on the antifreez because he noticed it was low. About a week after my check engine light came on, now it comes on and goes off every 10 - 15 minutes. My car is not overheating, and is not leaking anything. FYI the car makes no wierd noises, good condition, recently replaced radiator, as well as lots of other stuff. About 65,000 miles. Any ideas?
Answers:
The check engine light can mean a lot of things. Really, you'd have to get a diagnostic on it to find out for sure.
What is wrong with my left rear strut?
Do you have an Autozone in your area? They will hook your car up to a computer code reader, and do a scan for free.Check just the same, my 1995 Ford has the OBD II computer in it. Otherwise you can buy a code reader for the earlier computers for around 40.00, which is a lot cheaper then the 100 dollar bill from the dealer (or service shop) just to hook it up to theirs.
Urgent Help with my car battery needed?
is not related u need to scan it with a scan tool which you dont have possible some sensor in the engine thats going bad get it scanned. and fine out whats the codeWhat causes a motor mount brake?
If it's a 3.8L V6 engine, this mileage - and driveability problem(s) - are consistent with blown head gaskets - check right front and left rear spark plugs for green residue on the electrodes. A clogged EGR valve port is another - our of hundreds - possible malfunctions.Good news is: ford has extended warrantu on head gaskets up until 100,000 for certain years, and your year is lucky. Don't trust a dealer if the they deny coverage - call ford customer service.
WHY DOES MY CAR SMELL LIKE GAS WHEN I TURN IT OFF?thank you,?
most probably just a loose connection if going on and off like that or maybe thermo fans arent switching on properly sorry cant say 4 sure.its a ford.Do you own a Salvage Vehicle? Whats your experience?
If possible, take your vehicle to a Ford dealer who will be able to advise. Pre-1996 vehicles can't be tested with conventional code readers. There are code readers for your car but finding one outside of a dealers service bay may be difficult. Don't ignore the service light because it may alerting you to a real problem. Also, you could try removing the negative battery cable from the battery, then reattach after a couple of minutes. This makes the engine computer rethink itself and often removes codes that come on without a real reason. If there is a problem, the engine light will come back on.
Hope this helps-good luck.
