I am currently looking to buy a car,and I have came across a 93 Mercury Topaz with a 2.3L 4 cyl. engine...I was wondering if these cars generally have good motors and stay running good for a long time,it has 120,000 miles.Thank you!

this all depends on how the car was maintained. a lot of damage can occur in 120,000 miles. if it was well maintained there is no reason to expect it to not run double that. here are some owner reviews I found for it, check them out. also get a carfax and have inspected. I have not seen any major problems with the mercury topaz.

I don't know about the Mercury, but I had a Tempo with the same motor, that wouldn't quit.

it has a good track record with me the only problem I had was the exhaust manifold broke but that was because the muffler dude didn't put the springs back in from the manifold to the exhaust pipe

No ford - and topaz is not an exception - has a good reliability record. Unless you like surprises, have it inspected by a LOCAL inspections company like this one:
