Air out the car for as long as possible. Try the coffee ground idea as it might work but I would personally do the following:why would theOBD-II light come on?
Air out the vehicle for as long as possible in a safe place where it won't get stollen. Then use some absorbant disposable shop towels to see if I can soak any of the odor up into it. If I still smell gas then I would buy a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar and pour or spray as much as I could into my carpet. Then vacuum with a shop vac. Let air out one more time. Hope you have sunshine in your area.

Use an old wet hand wipe container and stuff it with good quality paper towels. Then pour in enough apple cider vinegar (ACV) to thourougly wet the towels. Keep them in your car to use after you pump gas. The gas smell comes right off your skin.
Can you strip the the lugs with an impact gun? Can you do it by over tighting?
I even buy the unscented baby wipes and add 3 Tablespoons of ACV to the bottle and wammy! Instant hand wipes for cleaning my hands after pumping gas. Trust me. Even a pair of gloves can get soaked with gas odor.

If the gas spilled on the floor, remove the floor and let it air out also.I did the same thing with mine and it really is a son of a gun to get the smell out. It just takes time.

*Hello; Someone wrote to me about trying coffee grounds in the trunk to get rid of the gas smell. I left it over night then vacumed it up. A lot of the smell was gone! You may have to try this several times but it does work. Thank you to the lady who sent me this solution!

First of all. A basic chemical property is that "likes dissolve likes". So, in order to remove gasoline you must use an oil based product. I used Lestoil and water and rubbed it into the gasoline (let it sit for about an hour.) Then, I took detergent (like Tide) with water and rubbed that into the area (let it stand for another hour). Then I used a vacuum cleaner that aspirates water. I dried the whole area (and let it finish air drying about 1/2 hour). Then I poured rubbing alcohol over the whole area and let it air dry for 2 hours. The smell was gone.

Mia 1--- Soak op all the gas you can and clean rugs and upholstery with Simple Green and Resolve. Do this it works wonders. Open windows and let interior dry. Go to a local grocery store and buy shallow tin foil cooking pans. Buy a gallon of white vinegar. Simply roll up all your windows and put the white vinegar in your trays. More trays are better. Within a week the gas fumes will be gone!
