Question:
I want to know.
Answers:
No, sugar in the gas tank will cause the gas to become thick and syruppy eventually so thick the fuel lines, rail, and pump will seize up. then if you are lucky and the sugar does no internal damage to the engine then you can expect to have the following items changed: fuel rail, pressure regulator, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter, injectors, and possibly the gas tank.

You might clog the fuel filter. Sugar does not dissolve in Gasoline. so basically when you put sugar in a tank it will just linger around like sand. If the quantity is enough ans in more than a mug, it could clog the filter and the car will more than likely stop running. a basic filter change will cure the evil. Hope this helps. If you get caught at it you get punched in the face.It will destroy teh entire fuel system. IT ABSOLUTELY desolves in the gas creating a brown goo that will coat all the surfaces and clog up the fuel injectors, filter, etc. It will also make the intake valves stick in the guides.
I've fixed too many of these. The other answerer about mythbusters is just plain wrong!! I watched that episode and I remember commenting about how wrong they were!

From Mazdaforums: Sugar in the gas tank is usually caught in the fuel filter and it plugs up. Drain the gas tank and flush it with a good cleaner. Check the fuel pump and see if it is still pumping. If not, replace iit. Replace the fuel filter in the engine compartment. Put new gas in the tank with a fuel system cleaner and see if all this fixes the problem. The next steps would include checking to see if the injectors are plugged.http://www.snopes.com/autos/grace/sugar.
According to CarTalk.com, putting sugar in the gas tank of a car is a widespread belief that carries more weight than it is worth. Many people believe that the sugar dissolves into the gasoline after being poured into the tank, only to caramelize upon reaching the engine and in effect forcing the engine to be completely replaced. In reality, the sugar does not dissolve and is usually caught in the fuel filters on the way to the engine, the site says
