As long as the car didn't overheat, I don't see any problem for the most part. If it overheated, then there is a chance that the thermostat could be damaged.

I don' t think keeping your car idled for 6.5 hours would damage the motor. Only, you wasted 1/4 tank of gasoline without getting nowhere. Why didn't you just turned off the engine instead kept it idle for so long.What happens when you put tampons in a gas tank?
