1999 GMC Jimmy dies while driving down the road and has trouble starting....?

Question:
Has anyone else had this problem? It's at the dealership I bought it from right now, and they don't know what's wrong. The check engine light came on a few weeks back, so I took it to Auto Zone. The code was something about a switch between either the transfer case or the transmission and the battery. I took it to the dealer and they fixed that. Got it back and it started dying on me after I stopped at stop signs! So I took it back again, they replaced the fuel filter. Got it back and it died more!! This time, while I was going down the road. They've had it almost a week now, and have no idea what it is. Any suggestions?

Anyone seen this Ford problem? I have. $4000 to repair mine?

Could be the fuel pump. Big vehicle like that might have run out of gas at one time in the past and that will deteriorate the fuel pump -- gasoline is the coolant/lubricant for the submerged pump located inside the tank. Surprised the dealer hasn't checked the rate of delivery at the fuel line.

Why dosnt my car charge the battery when driving?

Yes. Avoid anything with the letters GMC on it.

My car startes stuttering and shaking when I accelerate up to 80mph on the freeway, what's wrong?

The list of possible causes is very long. If it's that old I wouldn't be surprised if your fuel pump is going bad, and that's not a cheap fix. Your best bet is to take it to a local mom-and-pop mechanic with a good reputation. The dealership is the absolute worst place to take a vehicle because they charge you top dollar for repairs and rarely get it right the first time. Ask around. Word of mouth is the best advertising. I'm betting you can find someone in your local area who will give you an honest estimate and won't try to stick you with costly repairs you don't need. Good luck!

How do I get rid of rust on my car?

If it starts OK, and runs fine for 15 minute to half an hour, then dies, and won't start back up till it cools off, I'd lean toward a bad ignition module under the distributor cap.
