Is there an oil additve to quiet engine tapping?
just jerk that tranny out and slap a new clutch disc in there.. that is if you have not fried the pressure plate and flywheel already...you can but it will miss or hesitate, the pressure plate is worn out and it will just make it go quicker

It might just need to be tighten.I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus and have steering problems?
there is not much you can do about the chatter unless you replace it and have the flywheel turned. the reason you have a chatter is because the clutch is slipping on the flywheel and causing hot spots that are warping the surface of the flywheel.let me know what year make and model and I can let you know what a clutch will run. we are alot cheaper than the big stores.
some cars are a pain to change the clutch and others might be easier. let me know and I can let you know what it should run to replace it.

That is just gonna wear out the clutch even faster. You may have oil on it and/or your flywheel could be warped, too. Try another garage for another price. Doesn't have to be dealer.
what to do for 100K miles tune up on honda accord?
Don't mess with it and get it fixed ASAP. The last thing you want to do is add the cost of a tow to your repair bill when the clutch finally gives out. Ask around local mechanic shops to get the best price. If you were in SoCal (LA) I could recommend one to you...there is a grinding noise coming from rear of my truck, what could it be?
sorry babe I think your going to have to get it fixed would be cheaper if you had a few friends to help out and yous do itFrom my experience, you seem to have a bad rear engine seal. This will cause oil to get on your clutch and the flywheel which in turn causes the chatter and shaking you speak of. The correct fix would be to replace Rear Seal, Clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. I would recommend using a degreaser on the flywheel before replacing with the new parts. If it is worse case senario, the flywheel may have to be resurfaced or replaced.
Good Luck
Does anyone know where to find a fuse diagram for a 1993 Nissan Altima?
fix it or dump the car, no other choiceIf your clutch is operated hydraulically then there is nothing you can do as there are no adjustments that can be made.
From your description the pressure plate has worn out and that being the case even if you had an old school clutch that is adjustable it probably would not cure this chattering.
Skipping gears will cause your clutch disc to wear out quicker.
Once the clutch disc is gone you'll be taking the Nike express.
