Question:
In just got a car today and i accidentally turned off the engine when the shift was still in drive. Afterwards, the engine wouldn't start and all the lights became dim. After somebody helped me jump my car, the engine was fine again. But does this mean the battery needs to be replaced because its low on juice? The battery is about six years old.

No... as long as you let it run for a while after you got jumped off it should've recharged itself pretty good. Unless it starts going dead on you or giving you trouble then you shouldn't replace it. You don't have to replace it just because it went dead and you had to be jumped off...You can take it to a mechanic shop and have them recharge it for you, but really, if its that old, why not replace it?

Your battery has seen its better days. You can recharge it but at age 6 there is no guarantee how long it will last. Give yourself peace of mind and get a new one.It depends. If it has died more than once, it probably isn't charging properly, so you'll need to replace it.
If you died because you left your lights on or something like that, it's probably fine.

As long as the battery does not have dead cells in it, it should be able to be recharged by the alternator. If you consistantly have a discharged battery, then of course it will need to be replaced. This could be a problem with the battery being that old, but first I'd go to AutoZone and have them run a test on my altinator. This will drain the battery. If it's not that, then you probably need to buy a new battery. If the altinator is bad change it and while your doing this put a charger on your battery so you start with a full charge in it.What is the average service temperature of a car muffler?
