Question:
I got an new aftermarket timing belt. I was looking at the motor and for the life of me, I can't tell how to line up all the timing marks. I see timing marks for the balance shaft and marks on the cam gears but no other marks as to where those cam gear marks line up to. This should be easy, I've done them on DOHC Subarus, Hondas, Toyotas, and about 20 Dodge Neons. Am I blind or is this some sacred Korean secret?

Hope you're replacing the tensioner at the same time. It'd be a waste to have to go in twice. Here's what I've found on the timing itself...A/C Compressor shuts off during hard acceleration in 2007 Honda Civic EX?
On the upper left sprocket for the rear balance shaft find the depression in the sprocket. This should be aligned with the
cut-out in the oil pump casing to the left of the sprocket.
Where can I find the AC low side service port on a 2000 Explorer?
On the crankshaft, look at the cut-out in the plate. This aligns with a pointer on the oil pump case.
On the lower right sprocket for the front balance shaft, the dimple in the outer circumference aligns with the pointer on the oil pump case at about 10:30. This sprocket, however doesn't turn an integral number of turns with one turn of the crankshaft, so special procedures are necessary
to time it correctly. If it's 1/3 of a turn off in either direction, it's
probably timed correctly. To time it, turn it a little away from the pointer. If it tends to return, it's timed correctly. If it tends to
keep turning, you'll need to rotate it one revolution to time it
correctly.
