this year car uses a carburetor so the fuel filter is in between the fuel line and the carb. You will need a 1" wrench to hold the fitting on the carb, and a 5/8" line wrench to loosed and remove the fuel line. You will probably need to loosen a hold down clamp on the fuel line to gain a lillte movement of the line. remove the fuel line from the carb, and then remove the fitting on the carb with the 1" wrench(doesn't have to be a line wrench you probably wouldn't find one anyways!). After removing the fitting on the carb, the filter will fall out with a spring behind it. It's a little paper filter with an opening in one end and the other end is plugged off so fuel can enter the inlet and be forced out through the paper element. It is about an inch and a half long. Make sure you install the new one with the open end towards the fuel line.

How do I go about removing a fuel rail from a 1994 ford ranger 4 cyl.?

Its mounted on the vehicles frame right in front of the rear wheel, and I believe its on the passenger side, but if you dont see it there than its on the driver's side. An easy way to find it is to follow the fuel lines that run along the frame of the car and they will run you right into it. There will be plastic clips on both ends and this is where the fuel lines connect. This location is for the fuel injected models. I dont know where the one is for the carb models because mines is fuel injected. When you go to remove it, there are going to be a few bolts that have to come out because there is a bracket that holds the filter in place. All in all it should only take you 10-15 minutes tops to change it
