Washing my black car...?

Question:
I have a 2004 Grand Prix GT2 and it is black. I've been told you shouldn't just wash a black car with a regular sponge and that there is some kind of cloth or "wash mit" that should be used... is this true? Is this something that would just go easier on the black paint?

I have an 074Runner.Can I have wood grain interior or a navigation installed or is it too late?

yes that is true! never ever wash with just a normal sponge or cloth! yes u are cleaning it. but, by doing this all u are doing is rubbing the dirt particals into the paint and scratching it. black cars are the one cars that show damage the easiest. if u go look at older black cars there are swirl marks all over it.
be sure to use a micro fiber wash mit. if the car is really really dirty. be sure to wash the mitt more often to keep the dirt particals u picked up from scratching the paint. and after u wash it be sure to wax it. by waxing not only does it keep the dirt off the paint. which means the next time u wash it. if the dirt does try to attack the paint. it will only damage the wax u put on there which u can always redo. also if u live in hot conditions, wax it! black cars heat up the most and will lead to oxidation.
and dont forget to use a clay bar every once in awhile. if u really want to make it super clean. although u think your car is clean. if u use a clay bar u will be amazed how much dirt there is really on your car still. if its a brand new car. i woundnt worry about it too much. i just clay bar my car once every 6 months. and again. the less dirt on the car. the less chances of sratches.

How can I make my RX8 sound fast and sporty?

How much mileage doest it take for a car to break down/useless? Example Ford?

A natural sponge is fine, or any thing cotton. Just make sure it is free of grit and small rocks, so they dont scratch the paint. Dont let it touch the bottom of the bucket, or set it on the ground. That way you keep it free of debris. Good luck keeping it clean black is hard to keep clean, worse than white cause you can see all the dust.

What is the best auto break brand to buy?

i own a shop and all there talking about is like a wash mitt, its like a big old floppy glove, really more like a mop but it is good to wash one with,it is true a sponge will pick up dirt and leave tiny scratch marks in them, and after a while you,ll start to notice them also, and one other thing, never run a black car through a car wash it will ruin the looks of the paint,i messed my camaro up doing this and had to repaint it,good luck i hope this helps,,,ps a black car is nice but hard to keep clean.

Tig Welding/Welder?

i would use one of those was mits you buy at an auto parts store on any nice vehicle. theres no sense in screwing up the surface or risking scratching the paint. also my mit (glove) doesn't wash anything but the car as to not contaminate it. it only takes a few grains of sand to scratch the paint and the color black would make them stand out. good luck

I need some advice on a auto vacum business?

Hmm, well all but one of my cars are black. I wash them all in the same basic way, just use a nice big clean sponge when I do wash them by hand. Use average car soap which can be soap for cars purchased at a big box store or dish soap. It's basically the same thing.

Hi does anyone know how i can find out the paint name for my vauxhall astra,?

You may be thinking about waxing your black car. I know that can be a problem. Never do it in direct sunlight *is true for all cars*. I'm not even sure of the right kind of polish to use. I have not looked to wax those black ones yet.

What is the usual cost of Vinyl Printing?

I own a black BMW 325is, love black cars but definitely the hardest to keep clean. Don't bother buying the chinchilla mitts unless your detailing. The a regular sponge works fine along with brushes. One item you might wanna pick up is a terry cloth sponge, their only about $2 from walmart. Just make sure you thoroughly wash the car preferably in the shade and dry it with a designated towel, preferably one made specifically for this like a doe skin shammy. Another thing you wanna look into it wax. Seeing as how you have an '04 you shouldn't have to polish it yet so you cut your detailing time by about 4 hours. If you live in a hotter climate (Florida) pick up a silicone base liquid wax (eagle one, maguirs). If you live in a cooler climate (New York) use a carnuba paste wax (mothers, turtle). These waxes will allow the water to bead off and not cause such harsh water spots.

Whats wrong with my olds alero?

Just wash once a week or every other week, and wax when the water beads and you'll be fine.
