Question:
Hi my ford focus has a bit of a heavy drive when steering. I havent checked the air in the tyres as yet but if they are low could this effect the drive. Power steering fluid has been topped up...any suggestions

Is the steering pump belt drive?
If so check belt tension.
How can I tell if I have a bad motor? What should I look for?
Well do your tyres - it can make a hell of a difference to the steering -Is this more than likley the alternater? if so how much do the usually cost?
If you have a low tire it can effect the streering. It will also effect your gas mileage. Take the car in and have the tire repaired if it is low. Tires should not lose air at all unless they have a leak somewhere. If your streering continues to feel heavy take it to the dealer and have them look at it. It's possible they have a technical service bullitin to correct this issue and should have it resolved quickly.hi,if the tyre pressures are ok you may have to have your sterring rack checked,i've had to tow a few in lately that were loose!! make sure there's now "banging, grinding or knocking" if so get it checked out fast
What can I do to adjust the striker on my car door panel?
If you have pwr steering, you may need a new pump. If the fluid level was down too low, it may have air bubbles. You turn the steering wheel cw/ccw until you hit the stops for 10X both directions. But tires first.Your power steering belt is probably slipping. Try this, have someone watch the belt while you turn the wheels from left to right. If its slipping they will see it. Also check your filter located in your power steering resevoir, it may be clogged. You said that the power steering was topped off? Why was it low? Check for leaks in the lines and get it fixed...note that power steering fluid is some what flammable.
