There are several good ways to extract shavings when you are using a tap. If the head is iron, you can magnetize the tap. If the head is aluminum, you can try coating the tap with grease before tapping. In both cases, make sure you back the tap out frequently to clean the shavings from the tapping surface.I know that other people are going to comment on this, but truth be told, if you get some shavings into the cylinder, you can get most of them out by modifying a blow gun with a piece of 1/4 inch copper tubing. If you insert it into the cylinder, through the plug hole, you can generally blow out any big chunks. The little stuff will either burn or exit through the exhaust valve. It is bet if all of the above is done with the piston near TDC.

Go IN a turn or 2,,then reverse till you feel it snap the cutting off,,,then continue forward.

The grease will "stick" it to piston top,,or cylinder head.

It's almost impossible to get them all, but the fact is, aluminum shaving are probably not going to hurt the engine. They won't scratch hard steel and will burn up in about 2 seconds.
