How can I tell if my 96 pontiac sunfire has a 2.2L or a 2.4L? Also, the water pump is going out on it, antifreeze is leaking from the bottom of the car, was told it was the water pump though its not overheating as of yet. Want to know what size motor I have and how difficult it is to get to - to fix?

label under hood, 8th digit on id # dealer can tell you the code. 2.2 has spark plugs by the exhaust manifold - 2.4 the plugs will be hidden under a cover on top of the motor.2.2 water pump will take about 2 hrs for a Qualified tech to do, 2.4 will take over half a day { it is on the back side of motor towards the bottom gear driven off the timing chain} both are doable in the drive way.if you have the 2.4 buy a Haynes manual for $25.00 it will tell you every thing you need to know.can get where you buy your pump.How do i replace third brake light on a 02 trailblazer?
It should say in bold numbers on top of the valve cover.if you have the 2.4 Or check the 8th digit of the VIN number (just inside the windshield , on the dash in front of the steering wheel. If the 8th digit is a 4, you have a 2.2 If it is a T, you have a 2.4Trying to look up this part for Honda Civic?
