I bought a second hand steel wheel yesterday from an independent Vauxhall dealer thinking they specialise in Vauxhall vehicles and their parts so I paid him £20 (what a rip off!!) thinking the wheel, although second hand, will be usable condition and will fit without problems. At this point I also asked how much a brand new one will cost and he said £41 inc VAT.

When I went to have the second hand wheel checked by a wheel specialist to get all the balacing and tracking etc he goes the wheel's no good. So I've gone back to the Vauxhall guy and said just exchange it for a new one and I'll pay the difference. Now he phoned their parts dealer this morning and confirmed in front of me that it is £42 for him to buy it, and then he said there's been a price rise today in Vauxhall parts so he'll charge me £49. Is he just extracting more £££ from me or is there some element of truth in what he's said.

to me sounds like a fast one, i would say do as the other person has answered search around more. If you got a recipe there should be the model code for what you bought, use that as reference when searching sites for the part and when phoning other dealers. you should really always do this when buying parts, never buy first one you come across unless its needed there and then! I would still say he is being smart ***.What shuold I look for in selecting the best rims for my car?
