the car is 7/8 years old and this mirror probably need to be re-centered so the electric adjustment is aligned and functions in a correct manner ... best place is an auto- glass store for the job or you can remove the door inside panel and try the repair yourself.. you are going to need a special tool to remove the panel and most likely some new plastic push connectors to replace the door panel and this is why I suggest the auto-glass store..they got all that stuff..

you are right that there is only one power source. it will follow that one of the 4 switches the one that controls the down may be shot. this is all in one unit and may be tested for power out with a test light. if this is the case a used one can be installed
