Pay nothing. If you have a 68 Pontiac Lemans, you should be doing that yourself. Other people should fear touching your car. YOU should instill this fear in them.

How do I tell which of my half-shafts failed?

The time it actually takes is irrelevant, they will go by the labor hour book. It should not take more than two actuall hours barring no problems, rust stripped nuts etc. I am surprised you found a garage that will do it with parts you supplied, they make at least 30% on parts. Id say you should be looking between 250. and 350. dollars

awesome car! i have a '68 firebird that had drums. i ordered a willwood disc brake kit and changed it out myself. it took me about 2-3 hours to do the right job that included calipers and right down to the spindle nuts. labor wise it depends on who you take it to and what they charge per hour and just calculate that by 3 hours worst case scenario. good luck.

I'm sure you can find a shop that will do it for you, it will take two to four hours to change over, at whatever "rate" the shop charges. That is between you and them.
