Question:
I'm having problems when i accelerate fast, it acts as if its running out of gas for like 1 or 2 seconds, only when i press on the accelerator hard. It's like i step on the accelerator but the car just doesnt move,"lags" for like 1 or 2 secs, then all the sudden it will pick up speed very fast. They have told me it could be the gas pump but to first replace the gas filter so i did and it;s still the same. Some people also told me it could be the fuel injectors, so i decided to take it to the VW DEALER to have it checked. They told me that the IGNITION COIL, SPARK PLUGS, AND WIRES.. had to be replaced. They said THATS HOW THEY GOING TO START. So meaning the problem might be somewhere else. What do you people think? Tomorrow i get it back. by the way its $$480 BUCKS for what they are gonna do today.. By the way the " CHECK ENGINE" light is on... If that is.nt the problem, should I try fixing it with them? Or should i go somewhere else?

I have a 1996 jeep grand Cherokee and it has a had time shifting out of second gear?
$480 for a coil, plugs and wires? Remind me never to buy a Jetta. First of all, plugs and wires are a normal wear and tear thing, but are easy to check, but at the same time need to be replaced on a regular basis. Have you added any new stereo equipment or anything that may draw power from the engine? Sometimes that happens as well. In a lot of cars even when the electric fan turns on it's enough to lower the RPM's by a few notches.Any idea what's wrong with my car?
As for the check engine light, it could be as easy (and as expensive) as an Oxygen (O2) sensor.
Arrrgghh I'm having car troubles...?
The ignition tuneup is a logical first step, because if the engine misfires, it activates the "knock sensor" on your engine block to retard the timing. That causes a noticeable loss of power and acceleration. However, if you have a '96 or newer vehicle, the OBD-II diagnostic error codes should be indicating a misfire code. What error codes have they read out? You definitely can use the new plug wires if you've never gotten new ones before. You may also have a knock sensor error code.More Questions & Answers ...
