Remote Central locking on Renault Laguna W reg (older shape)?

Question:
I have had this car for a couple of years now, the remote locking worked fine when i first bought it and now it will not lock or unlock with the button when the doors are closed, it will however lock and unlock when the door is open! it has a new battery in the key so i know its not that, also i know it had a new key programmed in just before i bought it. very occasionally it will work, i wondered if there was a dodgy switch that told the unit when the door was closed? can anyone help me please! i am looking to sell the car soon and its a real pain in the neck!
