Question:
I had the charcoal canister on my Camry replaced last April and it just went bad again (engine light on). The dealer had told me that my computer was malfunctioning last year as well and I chose not to repair it at the time ($1700). Could a malfunctioning computer be causing the canister to go bad so fast? What are my options if I need to replace the computer. It looks like it will be pretty expensive.

I have a small case of oxidation on the top of my car, any suggestions?
If the computer was malfunctioning, that should of been stated first. If the purge solenoid was defective, that should of been stated. What kind of tests are they doing to determine if the canister itself is defective? If they become saturated, it is usually because of something else. I don't think a proper diagnosis has been done. There guessing and want to through parts at it and see what happens next (all at your expense)What kind of tire is needed for a Konig rim?
no i don't think is the computer i would go to another dealer n have a second opinionWhat's wrong with my Intrepid's Gas Mileage?
There is generally a filter at the bottom of the canister that just needs to be replaced... if its the type that opens. If you suspect a bad ECU, get one of the same type/engine from the junk yard, MUCH cheaper. that will eliminate that. If your canister is really going bad that fast, all it does is hold gas fumes in charcoal and release them while driving, there should be a map of sorts for the EGR system (including the canister) follow the map and check the hoses/parts. You should get the chilton manual from the library to check the system...Why do fuel pumps slow down when reaching the amount?
I don't think that the evap can is bad either. There is probably another issue unless the canister has cracked and is leaking. If this is the case, it has not been installed properly. I would take it to another shop.More Questions & Answers ...
