I have a 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Track that has 21203 miles. With Problems please Help?

Shocks/struts do not provide lift to the car, only dampening. If they are in good shape, leave them alone. Your springs provide the suspension.

When/why did they stop putting "points" in cars? I'd always heard the phrase "plugs and points" growing up.

Need em? no.
You should have them replaced while they've got everything disassembled to save you $400 later.

No spark on my 87 Ford F-150, 5L engine.?

Absolutely yes! Your OE struts are probably not only well worn being 5 years old with X number of miles but just as importantly they were designed to work with your OE spring rates, not the stiffer aftermarket ones. They will not be able to handle the increased spring rates resulting in poor ride and handling.

I would recommend a good aftermarket high-performance strut such as a Tokico or Koni.
