I had to upgrade from 13" wheels up to 14" wheels on one of my own cars, just to fit the 4 wheel disk brakes I wanted. Or should I say needed, The flimsy disk drum combo it came with on the base model did nothing but rattle the steering wheel at anything above 80mph, and steep hills OMG!
I have since upgraded to 16" wheels with 45 series tires for the handling improvement, and l drove the car from Buffalo, up to Algonquin Provincial Park where I had to drive 25 miles each way down a dirt washboard to the campsight. As if that wasn't enough of a test, I went sraight home after that, slept one night, retorqued my new wheels, picked up the family, and drove to Mammoth Caves National Park in KY sometimes hitting 125 mph.
And my 90 dodge Colt hatchback with 289,000 miles, is no worse for wear. I Haven't changed a wheel bearing, tie rod or ball joint, since long before I messed with the rim size.

Also consider that not only are the wheels heavier, the mass is also farther from the center, meaning it's even more difficult to turn.

Greater mass (and your wheels will likely weigh a good bit more, because as the rim diameter gets larger, there has to be more rim...also there will be more mass on the spokes) will also affect the suspension. All weight in the wheels and brakes (unless you have a car with inboard brakes...very rare) is what is referred to as "unsprung weight" That's anything that isn't cushioned by the suspension. Those are the parts that bounce off the road, and the suspension has to dampen that bouncing. The more weight there is, the more difficult that is. This means your suspension will wear out sooner, and the ride quality will suffer.
The car will not accelerate as easily. Thought I'd mention that again.
