At the very least, a tune-up should consist of (a) replacing the spark plugs and (b) replacing the PCV valve. Depending on who does the tune-up it may also include replacing the air filter and replacing the spark plug wires. In most cases you shouldn't need to do this until the car has at least 50,000 miles on it -- some cars don't need one until 100,000 miles. Who is telling you that you need a tune-up?
