I have a rebuilt 4 cylinder in a 94 beretta, is there anything that i should do as far as changing the oil after a couple hundred mile, or not going over a certain speed for awhile, driving only a certain distance ect...

as a racer i can tell you 99% of the motors i build ,get no break in at all...most are reved to the red line day one.
and they run just fine...

Change the oil after about 500 miles, then at 1500 miles, then at regular 3000 mile intervals. Avoid hard acceleration and long periods at a single speed until after your second oil change. Be certain to change the oil filter each time--it's catching all the little bits...and a plugged filter is like having no filter at all.
Check the oil and water DAILY until you know for certain you're not losing either.then go to weekly checks, which everyone should do anyway, but almost no one does.

Has randell has pointed out there are two schools of thought on this issue. drive it easy or drive it like you stole it. regardless of how you decide the important aspect is to maintain your proper oil changes and fluid checks. start with a 500 mile change, then up to 1500 mile then on to the regular intervals of 3000 mile. I myself being a drag racer and performance engine builder i can tell you that i runum like i stole them. most of the engines i due dont get tore down after races. just keep the oil changed. regardless of how you decide to drive it, if its going to have a problem it will rear its ugly head be it a slow and easy break in or a fast and hard break in. If in doubt ask your machinist or engine assembler how they would suggest it be done.Watchout Randy there is a little excited.

Thi is to settle the rings in the bores and give them the refined barrel shape they need to allow the piston to rock in its bore without losing compression.
