I have a ford focus zetec 1.6 16 v. it takes ages to start?

i turn the key and the engine turns over then it eventually starts anybody know why this is.

How long have you had it for?? It might be due for a service! Some fords have been recalled as a part in the break is wrong or something. I would go to ford and see if they can sort it out, that happened to my dad and they said it was a loose connection with something! I hope all goes well!

It could be the starter motor, sounds like its trying to start but its not making that connection. Take it to a local garage, get them to check it over... I mean the starter motor can go on like that for a while but then one day it may not turn over at all...
I have had it before that when I am trying to turn the engine over, if u hit the starter motor with something its will turn over...

sounds like your starter motor is on its way out, if the car is quite new take it to ford and they will replace it for free under warrently.
