Why does my check engine light come on and off during driving? I passed my emmissions test perfectly.?

Question:
I normally am the one telling people why their check engine lights are on. But mine comes on intermittently while driving (never while idling). I thought at first it was only when I was in someone's draft, but it also happened when no cars were in front of me.

How do you get a bumper sticker off of a car bumper?

As for my emmissions system, I tested it and the results were brilliant. I couldn't have asked for better results. Prefect air/fuel mixture, very little Hydro-Carbons, almost no CO, and EGR gases are within specs and great levels.

Where can i find a good but cheap exhaust for my 1989 Chevy S-10 pickup?

It first happened when I was riding behind a semi-tractor trailer, kind of close, and I wasn't getting much airflow. I was in his draft. In fact most of the time that it comes on, i'm behind a larger vehicle, such as a chevy 1500 (maybe a 2500) or a semi. The reason I say maybe a 2500 is because I thought maybe it had something to do with deisel exhaust.

is it ok to polish ur new car (4 month old)??

i own a repair shop, and there's two sensors that come to mind that may be causing this,,one would be the temperature sensor, and the other being the 0-2 sensor,,either of these would cause the light to flash ,it doesn't mean they are bad but ,when you said it does it ,like it might be getting robbed of fresh air,,that kind of leans toward either of these ,you might try and scan it,and see if it left a trouble code,,this might help answer this one,,other than that i don't know what else would cause it,,in those conditions,,good luck i hope this help,s.

What do you use to suck the brake fluid out of the reservoir?

It could simply be that the sensor is getting old and going bad. If this is the case you will notice the check engine light coming on more frequently, and after a while it will either stay on or go off for good.

which petrol should I use for my santro, ordinary or premium for better mileage and maintainance?

Was your light comeing on before you had the emmissions test done? If your egr valve is going in and out of open and closed loop if will trigger your engine light. If your oxygen sensor is on the brink this will happen as well. Also, most cars newer than 1990 have a spark knock sensor, this tells the computer to advance or retard the timing under differnt engine loads. If you are using a low grade fuel (83) octane then your engine may need a higher octane fuel(91). In any case you should check the engine codes, that will steer you in the rite direction. Hope you figure it out.

you do not give the year or make of the vehicle, but if it was born on or after 1997 the intermittint engine light will store a trouble code in the vehicle computer, have it scaned with a OBD-II
code scanner.
