if it just has low oil pressure then its probably not the oil pump its probably worn out mains and inserts if it is probably easier to un bolt engine mounts and pick engine up as far as it will go and take oil pan off then its easy.

well it depends if there are any cross members in the way of the oil pan or not. if there isnt any thing in the way of the oil pan it is pretty simple just take off the oil pan and then take out the oil pump, and since the car is and older one I would replace all of this.Oil Pump, Oil Pump Intermediate Shaft, Oil Pump Screen Assembly, Oil Pressure Switch {aka: oil sending unit gauge}, Oil Pan Gasket and Oil Filter. You will also need approximately 5 to 6 quarts of oil. I would suggest using Royal Purple as well as a bottle of Prolong, Engine Oil Treatment.
