I have a 94 Geo Metro (manual), it will not shift?

Question:
I drove it home last night with no problems, I went to drive it this morning and when trying to put it into 3rd or 4th it did shift, but 5th and reverse work. Any ideas what it could be?

Answers:

Why do you use wheel chocks when changing a flat tire and place them diagonally opposite the flat tire?

To put it bluntly, son you got a problem, a 95 Geo is worth about $900. First, check the shift linkage in the rear of the engine to the trans, you may get lucky and find one of the shafts has come lose. I don't know how your oil is, but check it, thick oil can cause shifting problems. There are also nylon bushings in the linkage that will cause shifting problems when they get worn. Try this. get rolling and try putting it onto 5th SLOWLY, if you know how to double clutch, do that as well. if it works your looking at a clutch or bushings.
