let me guess HALOGEN BULBS you can not touch them with your skin (the oil from a finger print or smudge mark on the bulb even dirt creates a hot spot on the glass and the bulb overheats to the point of failure ) . latex gloves on the hands while changing them takes that problem away or do not touch the glass of the bulb.YOU ARE MOST WELCOME .

Well, the first left was obviously pretty old. Now, the 2nd one may have just been defective or a bad quality product or it could've been handled roughly in shipping or something.Oxygen sensor & catalytic converter replacement?
Before you do anything crazy like spend a ton of money at a mechanic, buy another left headlight(this time spend a couple extra bucks for the quality one) and see if maybe your fuses need to be replaced. If it goes out again, then you may have a short in your wiring or another electrical problem. It could just be a loose wire that needs to be resauldered or it could be a major electric problem.
