2005 pontiac grandprix?

Question:
i had problems with my keyless entry remote. for some reason it just quit working? i replaced the battery in the remote still no luck? someone said it could be a bad body control module?why would this go bad on a 2005 car with 33,000 miles on it. and just what does that part do? also is it a expensive part and will they reprogram the remote once they replace that part. its been 15 years since i went back to a pontiac man i think they suck.
