Question:
How much would it cost to replace, is it a big problem, and is it worth fixing?
Answers:
Where is a vacum line schematic for a dodge dakota be found for free?
Cost is irrelevant. It needs changing. Head gasket holds in cylinder compression and keeps it seperate from the oil and coolant passageways that also go thru the head gasket(looks like a piece of swiss cheese).A bad head gasket means either the compression is leaking out or the coolant is leaking out or in or accross to the oil or the cylinder.
So you are either losing power(and performance). Do it while it is still working cause once the oil and coolant mix while driving down the highway - you will seize the motor= garbage.
Fix it and you have something you still can sell or trade in - should you want to do that in the future.
Also if you do not have the mechanical information(tightening sequence and torque specs and a torque wrench) get it to a mechanic. Do it right otherwise it will continue to leak.
it is worth fixing if the car is nice but if it is high milage then probably not as the car dont book for what the bill will be. try some sealer in it.
How does it cost to get a little rust under the car removed? Car is a 95 caprice classic?
If it is in "pristine" condition otherwise, and reliable, he may want to get it done...ballpark guess, $500 to $1000 for v6, depending where you go.More Questions & Answers ...
