A clicking noise in 95' eclipse. Only happens here and there?

Question:
Alright, there is a wierd clicking noise that i am pretty sure is coming from inside the engine. It usually occurs when i start it with a hot or cold engine. I brought it to get looked at but it wouldn't make the noise after it had been idling for a while. He thinks it might be a lifter or, less likely,. the timing belt. Do you have any idea what it might be. Also, do you know if i have hydraulic lifters?

Answers:

Is it legal for car manufacurer to provide a spare tyre that has s smaller radial than the standard tyre?

It is probably the lifters, I have a 95 buick that does it too...it is quite common with cars that are getting "up in miles", as lifters wear on the bottom/get "dished" over time. Sounds like they "pump up" after a minute or so...Re-adjusting isn't always a good thing either.

hydraulic lifters yes and a good guess without actually hearing it.
