all the places that i have found parts list the bearings in sae sizes what size do i need to get

.5 indicates 1/2 mm undersize from factory.
.25 indicates 1/4 mm undersize.
1 mm = .039 inch
in common terms .5 = .020 inch , .25 = .010 inch

There are a few others on line - just type in the phrase sae to metric conversion in any search engine and it will give you a few different conversion calculator sites.
Just get the ones that are marked the same, EXACTLY. But as far as the numbers you have quoted, 0.5 is half of the original value and 0.25 is a quarter. And being that they are rod bearings, the original value is probably in millimeters
