96 civic cx hatchback 00 bumper conversion?

i want to get a 99-00 civic front bumper for my 96 civic cx, but i dotn know if it will fit directly. a mechanic told me that 99-00 bumper will fit but wit some modificatoins, do u kno what those modifications will be? has anyone tried this?

it depends on the bumper ur getting (EX) a 4 door wont fit right on a 2 door and visa versa get one and see what it looks like. it being a hatch i couldnt tell
