What would cause blue smoke coming from my tailpipe?

Question:
I recieved a notice from toyota for my 2001 Camry and was told to have it checked by a Toyota dealer so I did that and they said that it was not oil gel what else could be the cause of blue smoke?

Answers:

Where can I find euro headlights and tail lights for an Oldmosbile Alero?

blue smoke is burning oil. it gets in the cylinders either through the valve guides - if worn - or worn out or "stuck" piston rings or damaged pistons. does it smoke most just after start up and then reduce? that means valve guides. if it smokes more after running a while - it is more likely pistons/rings. you don't mention your miles on the car? if you have oil gel you can find it by removing the cylinder head cover (valve cover) and looking for gel deposits. Oil gel, poor quality oil, overheating, extended oil drain miles, can all cause rings to "stick" or wear out prematurely with "blue smoke" being the result.
