Looking for a safe motor mount?
I used to own a 91 Explorer. I had problems with the back latch also. Must be a pretty common thing. All I can tell you is to slam the heck out of the back door. You may have to take it to a body shop or dealership and order new parts for the latch. Good luck.look for the little plunger that actuates the light, tape it down so the light cant come on.
Pull the fuse for the dome light.
If the rear hatch does secure than you can just take out the bulb for interior light. You will not have an interior light and it will be dark inside but at least it does not drain your battery. Just a suggestion!!
Nitro's answer might work but taping them down doesn't last any amount of time. The switch should be somehow adjustable... try "adjusting" it. Also, make sure you haven't gotten the light turned on somewhere else! It happens. Last off.. take out the bulb until you can figure out how to either repair the switch or disable it (which can probably be done by taking a wire off of it and then taping over the end of the wire).
Does a body lift for a truck require professional installation?
Don't tape it, fix it! There are three possibilities:1.Is the whole rear hatch misaligned? That can be fixed at the hinge plates possibly. I
2. Is the hatch aligned OK, but just not closing? Then the latch might be broken or where it closes is out of alignment.
3. If you can get it closed, and the light is still on, the switch itself may need replacing.
My distributor cap and rotor are in good shape but still I dont have spark?
I'd try "rolling" the latch mechanism with with a screw driver or something back to the open position so you can close it.If I paint my car myself will the rust still show thru the new paint job?
You can disconnect the switch but it would be easier just to fix the latch.More Questions & Answers ...
