I just had my oil pan replaced about 3weeks ago on my 96 'neon,?

and now its leaking light brownish liquid, kinda milky,,and its making this horrible sound even after i turn off the car..any idea what the problem might be and how much would it cost to fix?

when your oil (that would have to be whats leaking) is milky, it usually means its mixing with water or antifreeze, but before you break down and lose it, it could be that way with mixing with water from the street i.e. rain snow ect. so dont panic. But if it is still leaking from the same place, it should be covered by the place who fixed it. otehrwise it may be leaking from somewhere else. Also if it is brownish RED, it could be tranny fluid. have it inspected by an ase sertified technichian. good luck! :P ps. also have someone check the oil pan gasket before you take it in. its the seal that holds btween the pan and the block.

If it is milky then water has leaked into the oil pan. This is usually from a blown head gasket or cracked block. Have a mechanic take a look at it. It dosent sound good, or cheap to fix.

light brownish fluid may be old auto trans fluid. supposed to be red, but it turns brown when old and used up. look for a trans leak. these neons are horrible for constant leaks. cant help ya with the noise, without hearing it. if you were close to st. louis, i could help.

Replacing driver airbag?

Get a second opinion from a Cert. Mechanic. By doing this you can get written documentation showing where the leak is at, just in case the mechanic that worked on it denies the claim that his shop had anything to do with it.
Court of law would take this into consideration, just in case you had to go to court, to recover your cost's. Cover your butt.
