StarterI smell anti-freeze in the cab of my truck. Steam also comes out of the vents. What could it be?
Check the starter ! IF you can have someone tap on it with a small hammer while you hold over on the key in the crank position, HOLD THE BRAKE and dont run over that person! make sure its out of gear if its a standard transmission ,and the parking brake is ON! IF its an automatic make SURE its in Park! IF it starts , then its the starter not the alternator or igniton switch. My 2002 Impala LS (sport package) has warped rotors. How bad is this problem?
If battery cables are clean and tight, no corrosion and the battery is fully charged....chances are the starter solenoid is burned out! Probably time to get the starter replaced. A test on the charging system should verify this.If your lights work then it isn't the ignition switch.

Starter...you can check out the fuses also. How do you get a rear bumper off a Ford Mondeo, 1.8 turbo diesel, 1998, four door hatch???
Starter solenoid or starter. The solenoid may be integrated into the starter, or it may be on the firewall. Follow your positive batt. cable. If it goes to a terminal on the firewall, that is your solenoid. Replace this first, as it is inexpensive. Autozone can test it for you, and can test the starter, also, so that you aren't replacing parts you don't need to.Whats the best way to remove stickers from the winshield of my car?
clean battery terminals first before spending $ worked for me... then buy battery.I would say starter; but you noted "died while running." If you had a good running car that suddenly died and then wouldn't restart, I'd think something blew or shorted out. I would also check every fuse and the fusible links that are often present near the battery connections. If you are really adventurous, you can run jumper cables from the battery down to the starter and hook on to the positive connector to see if it turns. Prepare for big sparks if you touch the wrong part.
I have almost lost my feel and now I tear my feet apart I plunge knifes into them what can I do?
The starter/solonoid are bad. also check your battery connections. If your battery is fully charged then I would say the alternator is working fine, that is it's job. It may be the starter, or a broken wire in the ignition.

Is the Dodge Dynasty & Chrysler New Yorker compatible?
If the battery is up and you get nothing. You say it died while running, I'd suspect the FUSIBLE link at the battery. I don't remember if you have a starter solenoid on the inner fender, right side, but if you do check there. You will find one of the terminals has a big cable from the battery and one or two smaller wires(black) on the same terminal. A few inches down the small wires there will be a kind of a jelly bean sized fat spot on the wire. With a circuit tester check for power to ground on both sides of the jelly bean. If you have power to the battery side and none on the other side the jelly bean, it is blown. It may have died from old age or a short in the system..If you find that to be a fact, no power on one side let me know. We can go further......sounds to me like your engine might be locked up did you hear any noise when the engine stopped running? the starter wont make it die while you are driveing and if you hear a click when you turn the key the starter is getting power turn the key and hold it in the start position(all the way over) and listen for a groaning sound if you hear this your engine is most likely locked up (junk)
