Texas - Will my car pass inspection on the tail light?

Question:
The original red cover to my brake light fell off. It costs $80 to replace it, plus labor because I have to replace the entire unit . I put a red plastic self adhesive plate over it, not the red tape. It covers the light completely. Unless you go up to it, it is hard to tell from afar that is not the actual cover to the tail light. Will the people who pass inspections pass the car or will they fail it because it is not the original cover to the entire unit?
