Question:
the ac in my '95 pontiac sunfire is no longer working. i tried recharging it myself from stuff from advanced autos. It stayed cool for a day, then no longer worked, so i'm assuming its a more serious problem and i was wondering BEST and WORSE case senario what could be wrong and how much it could cost. THANK YOU!

How much limit is there to the amount of octane that I can put into my car?
For your A/C to work properly, you need to vacuum the A/C system down before recharging it with freon. The cans from autozone or Napa are a cheap man's half @ssed way of doing the job. The best thing to do it take it to a shop and have freon and dye injected into the system. The dye will come out wherever the leak is and show the mechanic what is leaking. My guess is that you have an A/C compressor that is leaking from the front seal (common problem). If this is the case you are looking at approx $600 to fix it.Freon leak $300-$1200

I've seen a/c stop leak work miracles before. For a few bucks it is worth a try.It swells the rubber seals.More Questions & Answers ...
