Take a voltmeter and put the leads on the battery post and measure the DC voltage. You should have 13.5 or so with the engine running. The power loss may be coming from some accessories draining voltage and current while at idle.Possibly, but that might not be the problem. Take it to a repair shop you trust and have them test the alternator. They will tell you for sure.
You can have a mechanic rebuild an alternator..but the best thing to do is to get a new one..they're like $200
