my car did the same, and i needed to get a new part to fix the problem. cant remember the exact name/term, but it had something to do with the airintake valve and fuel valve and one having an effect on the other to reduce something or other. sounds really muddled, but it needs to be looked at by a mecanic. good luck

sound exactly like the vac um hose. it keeps the engine responsive it is usually a small plastic hose that feeds into the carb from the air box. check it is not cracked or broken would be cheap to fix
